A hostel built with N1.6 billion in federal government funds to ease the accommodation crisis at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has become one of the institution’s most expensive student accommodation options, with a bed space costing as much as N950,000 per academic session. The facility, known as the Femi Gbajabiamila Hall of Residence, was conceived as part of efforts to address the long-standing accommodation challenges faced by students of the university. Candidates who sat the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates can now access their certificates online through the West African Examinations Council’s Digital Certificate Platform. WAEC announced that the 2026 certificates are available for candidates to view, download and share digitally. The development comes after the release of the 2026 WASSCE results. Candidates can access their certificates by visiting the official WAEC website and entering the Digital Certificate Platform. The process requires candidates to select the Certificate Access option and provide the relevant examination and identification details. Candidates may also be required to complete an OTP verification before gaining access to the certificate. Once verification is completed, the digital certificate can be viewed and downloaded. Candidates can also share the certificate with institutions or organisations that require it. WAEC has also made the digital certificate service available through its mobile application for Android users. The digital certificate platform is separate from the portal used to check examination results. Candidates who only want to view their grades do not need to use the certificate platform. The certificate service is specifically designed to provide access to the official examination certificate after it has been issued. WAEC’s official website currently provides access to certificate-related services. The platform also has a Certificate Confirmation option for institutions, employers and other organisations that need to verify the authenticity of a candidate’s certificate. This means candidates can provide their digital certificates while receiving institutions can use the appropriate verification service to confirm the document. WAEC said 1,950,726 candidates sat for the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates, while 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. The examination was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, across more than 24,200 secondary schools. She said she was trying to protect me. Maybe she meant well. But silence didn’t feel like protection. It felt like loneliness. For years, I swallowed my medication quietly. I avoided deep friendships. I kept people at a distance. I was more afraid of stigma than the virus itself. Everything changed when I met other young people like me at a support group for students, entrepreneurs, dreamers living boldly. That was when I understood something important: HIV may be in my blood, but it does not define my future. Today, I take my medication confidently. I live fully. I speak without shame. Being born with HIV is not a death sentence. But stigma can be.

Earlier this month, all graduated students were asked to submit their JAMB admission letter and a copy of their NIN for screening, probably to be screened for the senate list for NYSC. Mine was rejected due to name mismatch My name is correctly spelt , just needed rearrangement. Also the course given to me by JAMB was different from what I actually studied. So I needed to make two corrections, Correction of names and change of program. I quickly headed to the JAMB state office here in kaduna and that was where my rough experience started. Getting there, I was amazed seeing the queue. Many students were there for different reasons. I had to sit and wait on the queue for many hours [b]just to make payments.[\b] while waiting in the outer hall, I could hear complaints about the network issue, which was part of the reason for the delays. After waiting and waiting, it got to my turn to make my payments, but it was time for afternoon prayers, only one person was in charge of the collection of payments and they had only one POS. When he saw me, he initially told me he will not attend to me because he's going for prayers. The disappointment I felt after waiting on the queue for hours. He was attending to someone who was supposed to be his last and they were having issues and he quickly turned to me, and that was my luck! After making payments, I thought my problem was over, only to be told to join the queue again, some people have been there since yesterday. I peered into the main room where they were attending to students, the workers were few, they also had few equipments, the network was fluctuating, they only had 1 camera to capture all the students there, the printer was misbehaving. For me, the most appalling observation was that the organization there lacked a form of structure, like the workers there did whatever they liked and was not accountable to anybody, it looked like any of the workers could close for the day or go out any time they like. After making my payment, I was just left alone standing there alone. When I asked the lady that processed my payments what next, she said I should meet anybody available. The whole process was just disorganized honestly. I couldn't continue my application for regularization and correction of names that day. I had to come back the next day. My question is, is this how things are done elsewhere or because it's Nigeria?
