How does escrow protect me as a buyer?
On a listing that uses escrow, you pay through Paystack and the money is held — the seller cannot touch it. They ship or hand over the item, and you get three days after delivery to inspect it. If something is wrong, open a dispute and a moderator reviews the evidence from both sides before any money moves.
What does it cost?
Listing is free. Buyers pay a 2.5% escrow fee on the item price, plus any delivery fee the seller has set, and the checkout shows the total before you pay. A listing without escrow has no Buy button and no fee: you arrange payment with the seller directly.
How do I pay?
Through Paystack, by debit card (Mastercard, Visa or Verve), bank transfer or USSD. Your card details go to Paystack, never to Marcatir.
Can I negotiate the price?
Yes. Chat with the seller in the app, call them, or make an offer. An accepted offer becomes an escrow payment at the price you agreed.
What do I need to sell with escrow?
A payout account — the bank account escrow releases your money to. You add it once, then choose escrow listing by listing. You can also list without it, in which case buyers message you and you agree payment between yourselves.
What if the item is not as described?
Open a dispute from the transaction. Moderators look at the photos, the chat and any receipts. If the buyer is right the money is refunded; if the seller is right it is released to them.
What if I can't find what I'm looking for?
Post a buy request. Say what you want and what you would pay, and sellers who have it come to you. It is free.
