How I Almost Died Today. After Eating Don't Go And Lie Down

Sometimes you hear of people who slept and never woke up and today, I almost experienced the same thing and honestly, if I had not woken up the time I did, I am pretty sure it would have been a sad story. So this morning I was very hungry—I didn't eat much yesterday night or during the day, so the hunger was very intense. You know those morning hungers that come with torture. I decided to cook something.

My initial intention was to buy noodles (hungry man) and cook, but when I got to the store I saw macaroni and thought, it has been long I ate macaroni, so I bought it and came home to prepare it instead. I cooked it with beans and everything—honestly I made it better than I expected considering the lack of fish, and the money was like my last card. But it was delicious anyways, so I ate a good portion; I was filled but had to fetch a second serving because I really enjoyed it.

That was the mistake I made—that second serving. My stomach began to pain me, not so much to call it stomach ache, but just enough for me to be in distress. So I said let me lie down. I placed my phone on a phone stand and lay belle flat on the floor with my face down on the pillow. Combined with the overfed belle, sleep carried me. Only for me to wake up suddenly like 10 minutes later struggling to breathe.

I was shocked, confused, and scared—very scared—because my chest was burning; it's like the acid in my stomach all moved to my chest and lungs. You know that pain that comes with something getting into your airway when you're eating? That's exactly the kind of pain I was in. I could literally feel the food moving from my stomach back to my throat and almost into my mouth. Till this evening I can still feel the taste in my mouth, my chest is still burning, and I am still scared of going to eat the food even though I am currently very hungry.

Sometimes I just wonder, what if I hadn't woken up by the time I did? Because the moment I woke up, I stood up and had to maintain that standing position for a while even though I was feeling dizzy and irritated—this helped to push the food down. It took me a while to understand that I was regurgitating, probably because I slept on a filled stomach—much like squeezing an air-filled balloon, but in this case the contents of my stomach were being pushed out by the force of my weight on it against the ground.

Honestly, the experience could have gone really bad because the food could have rushed into my lungs and caused severe respiratory distress, with people coming in to find food acid rushing out of my mouth and nostrils.
