For Nurses: Mbbs To Rn To Np - The Usa Pathway, Step By Step (free Guidance)
I trained as a physician (MBBS) before becoming a Registered Nurse here in the US, and I'm now on the psychiatric-mental health NP track myself. I know there's already a great thread here on the NCLEX Japa pathway, but I wanted to add my own experience for anyone specifically coming from a medical background, or anyone who wants a second perspective on the process.
The sequence I actually went through: credential evaluation (CGFNS/TruMerit), English proficiency where your state requires it, NCLEX-RN, state licensure, and then - if you want to go further than RN - the bridge-program options to become a Nurse Practitioner (there's a specific Foreign Educated Physician track some US schools run for people exactly in our position, separate from the standard RN-to-MSN route most nurses take).
Happy to answer questions in this thread about any part of that, especially the physician-to-nurse angle specifically since that's the part I know best from lived experience. NYBON and TXBON are both solid starting points depending on your budget and how long you've been practicing, as already covered above.
