The Biggest Irony On The Internet

The biggest irony on the internet is a computer looking at me and saying, "Please verify that you are human." My brother, you are the computer here. I am the one sitting in front of you, pressing the buttons, solving your stupid traffic lights and identifying bicycles just to prove that I am not a robot. Sometimes the website will even ask, "Are you a robot?" How am I supposed to answer that with confidence when I am already questioning my own existence after clicking seventeen buses just to access one page?

You will select all the traffic lights correctly, identify the motorcycles, click every pedestrian crossing and still receive "Verification failed. Please try again." At that point, I am no longer proving I am human - I am applying for citizenship. Imagine explaining this to someone from 500 years ago: "Your Majesty, I spent ten minutes today proving to a machine that I am not another machine."

The funniest part is the computer already knows more about us than our relatives, yet it still wants us to identify a crosswalk. Technology has reached the stage where the machine interrogates the human about being human. (Two images of CAPTCHA memes.)
