While people of Kwara state focused on building materials, the people of Ibadan and Ijebus dominated spare parts and vehicle business in Lagos decades ago. The Yorubas were displaced by the Igbos market strategy which involved selling cheap products, offering alternatives to original products. The only place where Yorubas still have influence in spare part business is Owode Onirin.
All other places selling spare parts in Lagos are dominated by the Igbos . Now, that the Chinese have arrived. They should be allowed to set up there shops and offer alternatives to Nigerians. Or the Lagos State Government should establish Chinese auto spare parts markets separate from the ones dominated by the Igbos.
