When Rohan first started working in digital marketing, SEO seemed fairly straightforward.
“Find the right keywords, write a good article, build some backlinks, and wait,” he says, remembering how he approached SEO a few years ago.
But things have changed.
Today, people don't always search Google the way they used to. They ask questions directly to AI tools, use conversational searches, and expect quick, useful answers instead of a list of ten blue links.
That is where AI SEO has started changing the way businesses think about online visibility.
From Keywords to Intent
Rohan noticed the change while working on a campaign for a Dubai-based company.
“We were targeting a keyword that had good search volume, but the traffic wasn't converting. When we looked at the actual questions customers were asking, we realised they weren't really searching for the keyword. They were looking for a solution.”
AI helped the team identify those patterns.
Instead of focusing only on individual keywords, they started looking at search intent, related questions, topics, entities and customer problems.
The content became less robotic and more useful.
And that is one of the biggest differences between traditional SEO and AI-assisted SEO.
AI Doesn't Mean Letting a Robot Write Everything
There is a common misunderstanding that AI SEO simply means generating hundreds of articles with AI.
Rohan disagrees.
“AI can help you research faster, but it can't replace understanding the customer.”
AI can help identify content gaps, analyse competitors, discover related questions, organise large amounts of keyword data and suggest content structures. But businesses still need human expertise to add experience, examples, opinions and accurate information.
The result should sound like a company that actually understands its industry—not a machine trying to rank on Google.
Search Is Becoming More Conversational
Another change Rohan noticed is the way people phrase searches.
Instead of typing:
“SEO agency Dubai”
someone might ask:
“How can a B2B company in Dubai generate qualified leads through Google?”
That longer question reveals much more about what the person actually wants.
AI-powered search systems are increasingly designed to understand this kind of context.
For businesses, that means creating content around real customer questions can become just as important as targeting traditional keywords.
The Human Side Still Matters
Despite all the technology, Rohan believes the fundamentals haven't disappeared.
A website still needs useful content, a technically sound structure, strong internal linking, credibility, good user experience and genuine expertise.
“AI has made SEO faster,” he says. “But it hasn't made trust less important.”
That may be the most important lesson.
AI can help businesses understand search behaviour and produce content more efficiently. But ultimately, people still decide which company they trust enough to contact.
For businesses in Dubai competing in crowded search results, AI SEO isn't about replacing traditional SEO.
It's about evolving it.
And perhaps, as Rohan puts it, “The future of SEO isn't humans versus AI. It's humans using AI intelligently.”
