Pinterest Introduces AI Restyle Feature

Have you ever stared at your screen for hours looking for inspiration, but your brain refuses to cooperate?

Maybe you wanted outfit ideas, a new room design, food combinations, or creative inspiration for a project. At that point, there is usually one platform many of us run to for help: Pinterest.

For years, Pinterest has been that rescue platform we turn to when we run out of ideas. People use it for different reasons, but it all comes down to one thing: inspiration. From fashion styles and home designs to recipes and creative projects, Pinterest has always been a place where people discover new ideas.

Now, Pinterest is taking things a step further with a new AI-powered feature, and this is not just another regular update.

Pinterest is turning to artificial intelligence to help users move beyond simply looking at inspiration. Instead of imagining how something might look in your home, the platform now wants to show you.

The company recently announced a new feature called Restyle, currently in beta for users in the United States and Canada. The feature is powered by Pinterest Intelligence and is designed to help people visualize design ideas directly in their own spaces.

Here's how it works.

Users can take a photo of their room and ask the AI to make changes. Want to see how a new painting would look on your wall? The AI can add it. Curious about changing your furniture, adding decorative items, switching up the lighting, introducing plants, or repainting the walls? Restyle can help with that too.

The feature can even use items from images you have already found on Pinterest and place them inside your room virtually. This gives you a better idea of how those items might actually look in your space before making a purchase.

Pinterest is also allowing users to interact with individual items in the image. You can click on an object and replace it, remove it completely, or make further edits. If you want a total makeover, you can ask the AI to transform your room into a completely different style.

For example, you can request styles such as:

Bohemian

Industrial

Whimsical

Dopamine decor

And other trendy design styles

While the idea of using AI to redesign rooms is not entirely new, bringing this feature directly into Pinterest makes a lot of sense. After all, millions of people already use the platform to save inspiration and collect ideas for future projects.

Instead of just pinning beautiful designs and imagining how they would fit into your home, users can now see those ideas come to life in their own spaces. This could also make it easier for people to decide what they want to buy, helping them move from inspiration to actual purchase.

Pinterest first teased the feature during its annual Pinterest Presents event, where the company also introduced new visual search ads, app promotion tools, and other features for advertisers.

For now, Restyle is available as an early preview in the U.S. and Canada, but Pinterest says it will begin rolling out to more users next month.

Pinterest has always been the place people visit for ideas. With Restyle, it wants to become the place where those ideas start becoming reality.
