Setting up whatsapp business tools is one of those tasks that sounds simple until you actually start doing it. What should take a few minutes can sometimes turn into hours of moving between different platforms, checking documentation, verifying accounts, and trying to figure out why something is not working. Meta is now looking to reduce that stress with a new AI-powered approach to WhatsApp Business setup.
Meta announced on Tuesday 15th of September,2026 that it will now allow AI agents of your choice to set up and manage WhatsApp Business messaging. This is the service businesses use to connect and communicate with customers through WhatsApp conversations.
Previously, the process was a bit cumbersome because developers had to move between different tools and services, including the Developer Console, Meta's Business Manager, the API reference, and their editor. Instead of constantly switching between platforms, developers can now simply chat with their preferred AI agent and describe what needs to be done. In simple terms, you tell the AI what you want, and it helps handle much of the technical work behind the scenes.
According to Meta, the AI agent can take care of several important setup tasks. This includes creating the company's WhatsApp Business account, adding and verifying the phone number, registering the account for Cloud API access, checking the business Terms of Service, and handling other setup requirements. Think of it as having a digital assistant that takes care of the repetitive setup process while you focus on more important business activities.
The AI is not limited to setup alone. Businesses can also use it to create messaging templates. Instead of manually building templates from scratch, they can simply describe the type of message they want, and the AI will create it. Existing templates can also be edited with the help of the AI. In addition, businesses can test messages and webhooks through the AI agent to make sure everything is functioning properly. The AI can also monitor issues that might normally go unnoticed, such as Terms of Service problems, payment method issues, and Business Verification status.
Meta also noted that during setup and configuration, its Meta Social Technologies MCP can be used to discover API endpoints, search documentation, and help troubleshoot errors when problems arise. For businesses and developers, this means spending less time navigating complicated setup processes and more time focusing on customer communication. Instead of dealing with multiple tools and technical steps, much of the work can now be handled through a simple conversation with an AI agent.
As AI continues to become part of everyday business tools, Meta's latest update is another example of how tasks that once required multiple steps can now be completed much more easily.
