His representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed that Thompson is recovering and receiving medical care.
“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs,” Schlicher said.
She also said Carrot Top’s family and those closest to him were grateful for the concern and asked the public to respect their privacy.
The reported incident led to the cancellation of Thompson’s scheduled Friday night performance at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
The 61-year-old comedian has maintained a long-running residency at the venue.
Carrot Top has performed his prop-comedy show at the Luxor since 2005, making the residency one of the longest-running comedy engagements in Las Vegas.
