COOUTH CMD, Umeakuewulu appoints new Acting Chairman, C-MAC, Ibeneme

The Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku-Awka, Dr Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, has appointed Dr Chima Christian Ibeneme as the Acting Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (Ag. C-MAC) of the Hospital.
The appointment letter was formally presented to Dr Ibeneme by the CMD on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the CMD’s office.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr Umeakuewulu said the appointment followed careful consideration by Management, noting that the ongoing transformation of the Hospital required capable hands to drive its clinical and patient-centred agenda.
She charged the new Ag. C-MAC to be active and committed in the discharge of his responsibilities, particularly in coordinating the Hospital’s clinical services and strengthening patient care.
The CMD also commended the immediate past C-MAC for his service and urged Dr Ibeneme to build on the gains recorded while supporting Management’s vision for improved clinical services and positive patient experiences.
A statement released by the Acting Public Relations Officer of COOUTH, Mrs Lovelyn Chinenye Ezeakunne, described Dr Ibeneme as a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, who will bring his clinical experience to the new responsibility.
Responding, the new Ag. C-MAC, Dr Ibeneme described the appointment as a privilege and remarkable honour to serve the institution, pledging to discharge his responsibilities diligently and to the best of his ability.
To this end, the Management congratulated Dr Ibeneme on his appointment and wished him a successful tenure in office.###
