Is Generative AI Becoming An Important Skill For Tech Careers?
Generative AI has become much more common in technology and business, and I’m curious about how useful it is becoming as a career skill.
Tools based on large language models are now being used for coding, content creation, research, data analysis, customer support and many other tasks.
For people working in technology or learning new skills, I’d like to know how you see this changing career opportunities.
Is it worth learning Generative AI alongside existing skills such as programming, data analysis or cloud computing?
And for someone starting from the beginning, what would be the most useful things to learn first — prompt engineering, LLM fundamentals, AI tools, APIs, RAG, AI agents or something else?
I’d be interested to hear from people who are already using Generative AI at work or in personal projects. What skills have actually been useful for you?
