3 Strange Things That Happen In Ikono That Science Cannot Explain

Ikono LGA is peaceful, but there are some strange things that happen here that will shock you if you are not from here. Our elders have told us these stories, and even today, people still experience them. 1. The Stream That Sings at Midnight in Ediene In Ediene village, there is a stream that villagers say sings like a woman at midnight. If you pass near the stream around 12 a.m. to 2 a.m., you will hear a sound like someone singing a lullaby.

Our elders say it is the spirit of the water protecting the stream. No one fetches water at midnight because of this. Many young boys who tried to go there at night ran back and never tried again. 2. The Road Where Okada Refuses to Start After 7pm From Nung Ukim to Mbiafun Nkwere road, many Okada riders complain that their bikes suddenly stop working after 7 p.m. They will push the bike for some meters and it will start again.

The riders say there is a particular spot near the old palm plantation where this always happens. Even new bikes do the same. Till today, riders avoid that junction at night. 3. The Market That Sells Itself Out Before Dawn In one village market in Ikono, traders say if you keep your palm oil or garri overnight during market season, by 4 a.m. you will see some heaps already reduced as if someone bought it, but no one came.

The elders say the ancestors come to buy. The trader will still see money tied with leaves on top of the basin. Whether it is true or not, many traders still believe it and they don't joke with it.

I grew up hearing these stories. Some say it is just superstition, others swear they have seen it with their own eyes.

Are you from Ikono? Which village are you from and what strange story have you heard in your own village? Share it in the comments, let’s learn.
