A N500k Investment In Presco In 2014 Is Worth N29m In 2026
A close study of the financial markets taught me how the rich build wealth: not jittery, myopic trading of stocks, but with "good" patience. Real investing is rarely short-term. It's long-term. They risk little to make much, simply by waiting.
We also see this clearly in Berkshire Hathaway's investment in Coca Cola in the 1980s, securing a fortune for its investors, for generations to come.
This was at a time when many thought so little about it. Warren Buffett bought a boring product everyone drinks, and never sold. Today, that investment generates $850m in annual dividends.
Now, let's talk about Presco- our own local lesson!
Presco is one of Nigeria's most valuable stocks. The biggest agric stock by far- valued at N2.68 trillion in Q2 2026.
In 2014, Presco was trading around N32- N48. Today, Presco is N2,045.30 per share. At an average share price of N35, a N500k investment would be worth 14,285 shares (500÷35= 14,285).
At the current price, this will be 14,285×2,045.30= N29,217,110, in 2026; not adding the dividends received over a 12-year period!
They say Rome wasn't built in a day. There's a life lesson here, not just a finance lesson: Patience pays.
