Nollywood actress Omowunmi Dada has tooted her horns as her movie, Black Market, breaks Guinness World Records. Kemi Filani reported on Saturday that Nollywood broke Guinness World Records after over 51,000 people gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos to watch ‘Black Market’. The Guess World Records executives confirmed it during the event, announcing that it is now the largest audience gathering ever for a film screening.
Black Market surpassed the previous record of 43,624 set by Felix Manalo in the Philippines in 2015. The movie, which has generated buzz online, was produced by Rixel Studios and features Omowunmi Dada, Lateef Adedimeji, Uzor Arukwe, Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez, Itele, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, and others. Following the record-breaking achievement, Omowunmi, the movie’s lead star, shared a video on her social media page of herself raising her shoulders.

She had beaten the previous record of 64 makeovers in 8 hours. While sharing photos of the plaque on her, she revealed that it took her 10 years of building, believing and becoming. Declaring herself the fastest make-up artist in the world, she dedicated her plaque to her late mother, whom she lost 12 years ago. In June, celebrity chef Hilda Baci was emotional after receiving a Guinness World Records Icon certificate.
She said she wasn’t sure how to share it because she feared being dragged, but gratitude has a way of overcoming fear. Hilda said the recognition represents her journey, the sacrifices, the lessons, the growth, and the countless people who made it possible. Recall that in June 2023, Hilda, broke Guinness Book of Records as she achieved a 100-hour record time of marathon cooking.
The then 26-year-old Nigerian chef cooked over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint, at the Amore Gardens, Lekki. After the 100th hour, Hilda displaced Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who achieved the feat in 2019 with 87 hours 45 minutes record uninterrupted cooking. Guinness World Records later confirmed Hilda Baci as the record holder after being mercilessly dragged by Nigerians.
However, because of problems with her resting hours, Hilda’s record time was reduced to 93 hours and 11 minutes, as opposed to the 100 hours she cooked for.
