The Zamfara State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has reviewed the implementation and performance of the recently concluded vaccination campaign in the state. The post-campaign review meeting was held at the Iconic University Hall in Gusau and attended by health officials, Local Government Area (LGA) teams and other stakeholders involved in the campaign.

Speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, stressed the importance of effective coordination and commitment by LGA teams in ensuring the success of health interventions across the state. The commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Rilwanu Musa Zurmi, commended the teams for their efforts in reaching communities.

She urged them to sustain the momentum in subsequent vaccination campaigns. Also speaking, the Incident Manager at the Polio Emergency Operations Centre, Dr Murtala Salahudeen, appreciated the LGA teams for their dedication and commitment, particularly their achievement of above 95 per cent settlement coverage in areas covered by the recently concluded IBRA Round 2 campaign. Salahudeen said the achievement demonstrated the importance of strong grassroots mobilisation and effective coordination among health workers and other stakeholders.

He urged the LGA teams to strengthen their efforts, particularly in reaching underserved, hard-to-reach and security-compromised communities. According to him, sustained efforts are necessary to ensure that no eligible population is left behind in future vaccination campaigns. The post-campaign review provided an opportunity for stakeholders to assess the achievements and challenges recorded during the exercise and identify strategies for improving future health interventions across Zamfara State.
