Omotola Ekeinde honoured with Social Impact Award, days after donating movie earnings

Nollywood actress Omotola Ekeinde has bagged a double award following her huge donation. Kemi Filani reported a few days ago, Omotola revealed how much she earned from her movie as she donated ten per cent to an NGO. On Sunday, the movie star shared on her social media page that she received a social impact award and a lifetime social impact recognition from Israel Tribune in America.

In an appreciation post, she thanked the award organisers and her Maker for the ability to give back to society. “When I decided to donate our entire producers’ earnings from Mother’s Love: The Movie to the education of children from underserved communities such as Makoko, which was one of the backgrounds of our movie, little did I know how many it would resonate with, touch, or be watched by.

Our little act of obedience has continued to inspire me. Honoured to receive both a Social Impact Award and a Lifetime Social Impact recognition from both the Israel Tribune and @90210enterprise, a joint first recognition by them. Thank you! I am truly grateful to God to be able to do what I love and give back through it”. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde had stirred controversy after she revealed that she wouldn’t be dancing to market or promote her movies, describing such behaviour as unprofessional.

Last year, Omotola lamented the industry’s condition, comparing it to Hollywood and calling for structure. The legendary actress revealed that she had been working in Hollywood for 4 years and gets monthly residuals. Meanwhile, she got no residuals in Nollywood, where she spent 30 years. Earlier this year, the legendary actress had produced her movie, A Mother’s Love, which showed in all Cinemas.

Following the premiere, she expressed gratitude to the public, crediting God for making the event possible. The wife of Captain Mathew Ekeinde had expressed gratitude to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for supporting her movie. She shared a video of herself in the hospital before surgery, reflecting on how it has been a journey since her movie debut. When Omotola’s movie hit 7 weeks in cinemas, she threw shots at her haters, saying it isn’t about quantity but about quality, and bragged about being different.
