Imagine telling your family, friends or even authorities that something unusual happened — and the first reaction you get is:
“Nobody will believe you.”
It’s easy to dismiss a story when it sounds strange.
But there is a difference between being skeptical and refusing to investigate.
In this case, a family’s account was initially questioned. Later, authorities became involved and the situation received closer attention.
That part of the story got me thinking.
Sometimes the right response to an unusual claim isn’t immediate belief.
And it isn’t immediate dismissal either.
It is: “Let’s find out what actually happened.”
Because evidence doesn’t become more or less true simply because a story sounds believable.

If you were in that family’s position, would you keep pushing until someone investigated—or eventually give up?
