Earlier this year, Charly had surprised the former president on his 89th birthday with a huge box. Videos seen online captured the moment he presented the box to Obasanjo, who opened it in front of the crowd. Speaking about the birthday celebration, he said Obasanjo was well honoured, as the hall was filled with laughter. In an interview with media personality Isbae U on Curiosity Made Me Ask, Obasanjo opened up about his perception of Charly Boy, saying he initially had little regard for him because of his unconventional appearance and lifestyle, despite great respect for his late father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.

He said his opinion changed after he saw how he cared for his late parents. Obasanjo said Charly remained dedicated to his father until his death and also cared for his mother, adding that witnessing that care changed his perception of the entertainer. Obasanjo also lauded Charly Boy, describing him as intelligent and dedicated. In an interview last year, the legendary singer revealed why he doesn’t like women anymore, especially those who are well endowed.

He said his manhood can’t rise. Recall that in April 2023 Charly Boy shared his battle with prostate cancer. He revealed that being a survivor was the greatest favor God had done for him, as he appreciated God for sparing his life, his doctor and his family for their support as well. The street singer had recounted how he was raped by a nanny. He further revealed that by age 12, he had already contracted gonorrhea from going to a brothel.

While speaking with Uriel Oputa on Pulse, Charly revealed that before meeting his wife, he had been married 4 or 5 times, which is why he was no longer excited by women. He also disclosed that he does not believe in love and that love is not what makes a marriage work. In a recent interview, Charles reflected on his long-term marriage, expressing displeasure at being married to the same woman for nearly 50 years.

He admitted that being with one person can feel repetitive, emotionally routine and boring.
