A former retail banker, Francis Ushie, has shared a heartbreaking account of how he ended up alone and homeless in Lagos after helping his family relocate to Canada. Ushie said his marriage was already troubled, with what he described as infidelity on his wife’s part. Still, he believed a fresh start abroad would heal the cracks. The family secured permanent residency, and he paid two years’ rent upfront.
He resigned from his banking job so he could join them later. His wife, from Obuloku in Delta State, travelled first with their four children while Ushie remained in Nigeria for almost a year because his bank needed him to complete an audit. When he finally flew to Calgary in November 2014, he said his wife blocked him completely refusing to give him the address where she and the children were staying.
He said he was stranded at the airport with nowhere to go. He used his return ticket to come back to Nigeria. He later delayed returning to Canada while pursuing compensation from the Lagos State government over a demolished house and waiting for money from a business. He has remained in Nigeria since around 2016. Today, Ushie describes himself as homeless and alone for more than a decade, saying his wife also cut off all communication between him and their children.
Despite everything, he says he is still open to reconciliation if his wife wants it. He is considering writing to the Canadian government to explain what happened and hopes his children will one day see his video and understand the sacrifices he says he made , paying for their passports, flights, and rent so they could start a new life. All these kinds of men, where do they come out from?
If i am the wife i will never reach out to him or settle...After so many years, he had to add that infidelity part to disgrace her out of silence? And with the same mouth he wants to settle if she wants? to go back to a cheating woman? Oga leave her alone and move on please...Like you said your kids will see this one day and if they want to, they will contact you!
