Add as a preferred source The National Democratic Congress (NDC), Zamfara State chapter, has condemned the recent bandits’ attack on Bindin community, where villagers and gallant security personnel were massacred, and called on the international community to take note of the deteriorating security situation in the state. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the state NDC Publicity Secretary, Kassim Almustafa Kayatawa, said the party mourned the tragic loss of gallant security personnel and innocent civilians who were brutally killed in the recent attack.
The statement reads in part:”NDC Zamfara State Chapter, under the leadership of Alhaji Surajo Garba Maikatako, extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the people of Bindin in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire community during this moment of profound grief and unimaginable loss. “The destruction of property is immeasurable, but the loss of precious lives is a wound that will never fully heal.
We pray that the Almighty Allah grants the departed souls eternal rest and provides their families with the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses. “However, to our utter dismay and profound disappointment, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, was notably absent during this critical time of mourning. Instead of being with his people, he chose to join a Federal Government delegation for a Nigeria-Ethiopia leadership exchange on nutrition policy in Addis Ababa.
“This decision is not only insensitive but also a stark betrayal of the trust placed in him by the people who voted for him. “During the 2023 election campaign, the Governor publicly promised to end banditry in Zamfara State. That promise has failed woefully. “How can the citizens of Zamfara be convinced that their Governor cares about them, after he abandoned them in their darkest hour?
How can he look the families of the victims in the eye after leaving them alone in their time of grief?. “NDC also condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the Federal Government for approving Governor Dauda Lawal’s participation in this delegation while the people he governs and security personnel are under relentless attack. “We call on the international community to take note of the deteriorating security situation in Zamfara State and the apparent lack of genuine commitment from both the State and Federal Governments to protect the lives of innocent citizens”, the statement concluded.
