33-Year-Old Man Arrested For Writing FCT Promotion Exam For Father

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly sitting for a promotion examination on behalf of his father, a staff member of the FCT Fire Service. Musa was apprehended on Wednesday, the third day of the promotion examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission. He was reportedly caught by security personnel deployed at the instance of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, at the examination centre located within the premises of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

Musa allegedly told security officials that his father, Musa Mohammed, was ill and had asked him to sit for the examination on his behalf. When questioned about his father’s age, the 33-year-old reportedly said he was between 67 and 68 years old. However, Musa Mohammed gave a different account, saying he would turn 60 in February 2027. During further questioning, the father reportedly said he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.

Both father and son were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). The circumstances surrounding the alleged impersonation and the eligibility of the father to sit for the promotion examination are expected to form part of the investigation.
