The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State, Mogaji Olusegun Agboola, has attributed the omission of his name from the list of governorship candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to a minor error. Reacting to the omission in Ibadan on Sunday, he reassured party members and supporters of his continued participation in the 2027 governorship election.
Agboola attributed the development to a clerical error, expressing confidence that the situation would be addressed through the necessary corrections. The SDP candidate acknowledged the potential impact of the omission on the morale of party members and supporters but maintained that it would not weaken his resolve to contest the election. “It is a minor error with a big impact on morale, but not one that will knock our confidence,” he said.
He urged party faithful and supporters across the state not to interpret the omission as a setback to the party’s electoral ambitions, insisting that the development would not deter the SDP from participating in the 2027 governorship contest. According to him, efforts are ongoing to resolve the issue, and he expressed optimism that the necessary corrections would be made. The omission had raised concerns among some party supporters about the status of Agboola’s candidacy, prompting the governorship hopeful to clarify the situation and reaffirm his commitment to the race.
Reiterating his determination to remain in contention, Agboola declared, “We are still in the race.” He called on supporters to remain calm, steadfast and confident in the party as efforts continue to address the reported error.
