Tragedy as Imo man murders lover, sells toddler daughter
The Imo State Police Command have arrested one Ezinihitte Mbaise over the alleged murder of his widowed lover and sale of her 16-month-old daughter. The suspects reportedly abducted the deceased and her toddler on 19 September 2026 before killing her and burying her body in a shallow grave inside his compound.
Reports gathered that the deceased was a widow who had left her home alongside her youngest child to visit Mbaise.
Investigation claimed that Mbaise had a prior plan to sell the child and murdered the mother to carry out his scheme without interference. A neighbour reportedly spotted him from afar while carrying out his devious deeds.
The unusual activity drew the attention of law enforcement, who later discovered the shallow grave. The suspect was said to have been involved in a similar case in 2015 where he allegedly killed his 25-year-old girlfriend, Chino Ella, whom he impregnated while married with children.
He reportedly caused her death by forcefully aborting the pregnancy and burying her body in a shallow grave within the same compound.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue, with authorities compiling evidence from past and present cases. At the same time, efforts to ascertain the safe recovery of the missing toddler are ongoing.
