My dear Ndi Enugu,
I am deeply concerned by the reports of violence surrounding the recent political gathering in Enugu, particularly the shooting that left a citizen injured.
My immediate concern is for those who have been hurt, those who experienced fear, and the families affected. I want to assure them that their safety and well-being matter to me personally.
I know how much our people value the peace and security we have worked so hard to establish in Enugu. Incidents such as these cause anxiety and deserve our full attention. Every citizen, whatever their political affiliation, must be able to exercise their political rights without fear or violence.
The Enugu State Government has made its position clear regarding allegations of involvement in this violence. Our fundamental responsibility as a government is to protect lives, uphold the law, and ensure that justice is pursued without favour.
