How To Know A Fake Money-making Website Before You Lose Your Money (12 Red Flags
After MMM in 2016 and CBEX in 2025, a lot of us have learned the hard way. Every week a new "earn daily" site or app is going round WhatsApp and Telegram, and many disappear with people's money.
Before you join any of them, check these 12 red flags:
- It promises huge, guaranteed daily earnings
- You must pay an "activation fee" or "upgrade" to start earning
- You earn more for recruiting people than for doing real work
- The withdrawal rules keep changing when you reach the minimum
- The website is only a few weeks old (check the domain on a free WHOIS lookup)
- There is no real company name, terms of service or privacy policy
- The reviews look copied or fake
- Pressure tactics: "offer ends today!", "only 20 slots left"
- "Payment proof" is only screenshots of bank alerts
- They ask for your bank PIN, OTP or passwords
- Support is only through Telegram or WhatsApp admins
- You must download an APK instead of using the Play Store or App Store
Rule of thumb: if a site shows two or more of these, walk away.
A simple habit that saves a lot of pain: before you put serious time or money into any platform, try to withdraw your first small balance. If that fails, stop there.
If you have already been scammed: stop sending money (the "recovery fee" is a second scam), call your bank to block your card, change your email password first, and report to the EFCC.
