The Hermeneutics Of Possession (when “god Gave Us The Land”)

There is a standard way the biblical story of the conquest is told.

God calls Abraham, makes a covenant, and promises his descendants a specific territory. Generations later, Abraham’s descendants are enslaved in Egypt. Moses leads them out, they wander the wilderness, and under Joshua, they march on Canaan to claim their inheritance.

To the Israelites, this is the fulfillment of a divine promise. But that narrative relies on looking at the story from only one side.

What did these events look like to the people already living in the land?

This analysis treats the biblical account strictly as a narrative text to examine its internal logic. The question is not whether these events occurred historically, but rather: If we accept the biblical narrative on its own terms, what do these actions look like from the perspective of the original inhabitants?

My Children Learn Better From Me Than From Their School Teachers" – Is This A Pr

Fellow Nairalanders,

I want to share something personal that has changed my perspective on education and parenting.

It has become my duty to teach my children.

Every day, my children – who are in Nursery and Primary school – come home with homework in their books. And every day, I am the one who teaches them. Almost every single day, they return with two homework assignments, sometimes even three.

This responsibility has given me the confidence to become a better teacher. I've grown. I've learned. And I've discovered something surprising:

My children seem to understand me better than they understand their professional school teachers. They prefer when I teach them at home.

I don't know if this is because I'm their father, because I'm patient with them, or because I explain things in a way that makes sense to them. But it's working.
