Apple Is Cutting Jobs Again, And Siri Is Feeling The Heat!
Apple is reportedly making major changes behind the scenes, and this time hundreds of employees are being affected. According to Bloomberg, Apple has cut more than 200 jobs across several teams - the biggest hit being the Vision Pro headset team with around 100 positions eliminated, and another 100 job cuts reportedly affected the teams behind Siri and Intelligent Systems Experience, the division responsible for bringing AI features into Apple devices.
Sources say Apple is reshuffling its workforce to focus more on next-generation AI projects and upcoming devices - moving resources away from some existing projects and investing more heavily in artificial intelligence. Apple confirmed the layoffs to Bloomberg, saying it is working to 'evolve its business to deliver the best experiences for users', and while some roles are being removed, new positions will be created.
The move comes as Apple races to strengthen its position in the AI space amid growing competition, rising memory/computing costs, recent price increases on some Macs and iPads, a new hardware leasing program, and a legal battle with OpenAI over alleged trade theft.
