MAFEST Moves To September 2027, Positioning For Its Most Ambitious Edition Yet

The Organising Committee of the Meet Africa Fashion Festival (MAFEST) has announced the rescheduling of its next edition to September 2027, following careful consideration of the prevailing security environment and the political atmosphere ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections. Rather than compromise on quality, MAFEST is using the additional preparation period to build a bigger festival designed to bring together representatives from 20 African countries.

Already endorsed by the Federal Government, MAFEST 2027 is being developed in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment; Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy; and Federal Ministry of Environment, alongside Nigerians in Diaspora organisations. The theme - 'TAKE YOUR PLACE IN AFRICA' - positions MAFEST as more than a fashion show: a platform for Africa's creative economy connecting designers, models, textile manufacturers, cotton producers, investors, policymakers, media and the African Diaspora.

The formal unveiling is scheduled for October 2026 in Abuja; the venue and host city will be announced in Q1 2027. According to MAFEST President Mr. Charles Ozoemena: 'September 2027 allows us to bring together more countries, more designers, more creative entrepreneurs, more investors and more opportunities.'
