Many persons have identified the JW organization as a false prophet. The JWs themselves claim they are not compelling anyone, and they don’t pronounce prophecies, but rather try to adhere to Bible principles and follow the example of Jesus. Interestingly, the Governing Body claims that they were appointed by Jesus to feed his sheep at the proper time. A qualification for this claim is to be part of spiritual Israel, signified by the 144,000.
The Possibilities: • If it can be proven that the Governing Body members are not part of spiritual Israel, then they claim to be what they are not. • If there is no way to prove that they are not spiritual Israel, then we cannot draw a firm conclusion, and we should listen to them with caution while waiting patiently until Judgment Day.
The Reality: There is a test for spiritual Israel, and it is hidden in plain sight in the Bible we read every day.
The Proof: The proof is in 2 Samuel 24:1–10, 1 Chronicles 21:1–7, and Revelation 7:1–14. These verses show that when the anointed of God takes a count of Israel, Judgment Day begins—and it starts with Israel (the Church, as interpreted by other Christian groups). Those who claim to be Israel and are not are judged first. The Governing Body of the JW organization has been counting Israel for close to 100 years, yet Judgment Day has not started.
In the book of Revelation, the angels are holding back the four winds so that the count can be completed, after which judgment comes suddenly like a thief in the night. The Governing Body of the JW organization counts Israel during every Memorial of the death of Jesus. However, this census does not culminate in a Judgment Day that produces those who come out of the great tribulation.
The act of counting spiritual Israel without a resulting Judgment Day shows that the Governing Body of the JW organization lacks the authority to count Israel, is not anointed, and is a counterfeit. Those they have counted as spiritual Israel are likewise a counterfeit, because they were counted by an unauthorized body, making the entire exercise futile.
Conclusion: We can conclude that the Governing Body of the JW organization is a counterfeit operating on a lie. They have made several false prophecies and will continue to fail. As the Scriptures note, when the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a ditch. The power of a false prophet relies on the fear they instill in people, but the Bible advises us not to fear them, as stated in Deuteronomy 18:22.
