In the bustling tech ecosystem of Lagos, Nigeria, stories of young innovators often surface, but few capture the imagination quite like that of Joshua Agboola. Born and raised in Lagos, STAR ⭐ Innovator Joshua began coding at the age of six. By the time he turned 13 in 2023, he had earned multiple Amazon Web Services (AWS) certifications that positioned him as Africa’s Youngest Certified Cloud practitioner and developer.
Joshua’s introduction to technology came through deliberate parental guidance rather than pure chance. At six, his parents enrolled him in a summer computer school. A year later, at seven, he joined tech classes at Co-Creation Hub (CCHub) in Lagos, where he learned coding fundamentals from scratch and multiple programming languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Java, jQuery, C++, C#, PHP, and Bootstrap.
He later secured a scholarship to study software engineering at Semicolon Africa, further sharpening his skills. By his early teens, STAR ⭐ Inventor Joshua was already building practical applications. He developed a social networking app using Django and Python, inspired in part by a visit from Mark Zuckerberg to one of his coding classes. He also created a swear-word remover tool aimed at protecting children online from cyberbullying and inappropriate content, reflecting an early interest in using technology for social good.
In February 2023, at age 13, the young STAR ⭐ Inventor sat for and passed the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner examination. This foundational credential validates understanding of AWS Cloud concepts, services, security, architecture, pricing, and support making him the youngest certified AWS Cloud Practitioner in Africa.
STAR ⭐ Inventor Joshua describes himself as a “Future Skills Activist.” In an interview with SeedufyTech, Joshua speaks about the Limitations of age-based restrictions in some learning programs and the need to create environments where talent can flourish regardless of age. He founded Joshfortech also styled as Josh4Tech, a venture focused on knowledge and skill empowerment as well as web and mobile application solutions for businesses and individuals.
Through his YouTube channel under the same name, the young STAR ⭐ shares technology tutorials in an accessible style, aiming to lower barriers for other young learners.
His work has attracted recognition beyond the certifications themselves. In 2023, he received an Early Achievers Award in the ICT category at the National Children Leadership Conference organized by the Children of Africa Leadership and Values Development Initiative (CALDEV). In 2024, Tech Unite Africa named him Tech Entrepreneur of the Year in collaboration with the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce.
