You know those days when Lagos public transport decides to give you a full package of wahala? This one delivered.
A group of passengers boarded a commercial bus at Oshodi, settled in, and headed toward their various destinations. Everything was normal until they got to Dopemu. The bus suddenly parked, and both the driver and the conductor just disappeared. No announcement, no apology, nothing. They simply left the passengers sitting there like forgotten luggage.
One hour passed. People started getting restless. Phones were coming out, complaints were flying, and the usual Lagos roadside arguments began. Still no one. At some point, frustration hit a new level. The passengers decided enough was enough and started removing parts from the bus. Yes, actual parts. The battery came out and sat on the ground. Other pieces followed. It was pure “if we can’t move, nobody is moving.”
Apparently, that was the magic spell. The moment the driver noticed his bus was being stripped like a spare-parts market, he reappeared. Fast. The conductor, however, reportedly ran away and never returned. Suddenly the abandoned vehicle had only one of its owners back.
As the driver tried to regain control, the passengers were already demanding their money. Voices could be heard insisting, “We want our N1,000!” Some were not ready to continue the journey after being stranded for so long.
One lady who was there captured the whole thing on video, laughing through the chaos and calling it “signs and wonders.” And honestly, she wasn’t wrong. In Lagos, sometimes the only way to get your driver back is to start dismantling his livelihood right in front of him.
