Olori Atuwatse III, wife of the Olu of Warri, has addressed conversations around polygamy and her place in her husband’s life. In a new interview with BBC News Pidgin, she made it clear that the Olu of Warri is not considering polygamy, and adds that she is more than enough for him. Her comments follow the king’s earlier BBC Pidgin interview where he explained that God did not give him the grace for more than one wife.
He noted that he values peace at home, enjoys spending time with his family, and prefers a simple private life that complements his public duties. She also spoke about her fashion choices, saying her role does not restrict her style. According to her, the turban she often wears serves as her crown when she is in “queen mode,” and she enjoys the freedom to dress in a way that reflects her personality.
Olori Atuwatse III, a lawyer and daughter of the late businessman Captain Hosa Okunbo, is known for her advocacy in education and women’s development across the Warri Kingdom and Niger Delta. She has championed several initiatives to improve schools in riverine communities. The royal couple married in 2014.
