PBAT Movement Suspends Campaign Activities Over Military Aircraft Crash

The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has suspended all campaign activities for one week following the tragic crash involving a Nigerian military aircraft that claimed the lives of officers of the Nigerian Navy and other personnel on board. The Movement’s National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Asuku, said the decision was taken by its Grand Patron, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, in honour of the fallen military personnel.

Tompolo described the incident as a “painful and monumental loss” to the Nigerian Armed Forces and the nation, saying the officers paid the ultimate price in the line of duty. “These officers paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, serving our country with courage, patriotism and unwavering commitment,” he said. He expressed condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Armed Forces, the government and people of Ondo State, and, most importantly, the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased officers.

The Movement said the sacrifice of military personnel who risk their lives daily to protect the country would not be forgotten. It also commended the Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, first responders and local residents who participated in the search and rescue efforts despite the difficult terrain. The Movement called on the military authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the cause of the crash to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.

It prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the fallen heroes and for God to grant their families the strength to bear the loss. “May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in perfect peace, and may God continue to protect our troops on land, air and sea,” the statement said.
