33-Year-Old Son Arrested For Writing FCT Promotional Exam For His Father.

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating his father, Musa Mohammed, during the ongoing FCT Civil Service promotion examination in Abuja. He was caught on Wednesday, the third day of the exercise, at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) examination centre.

Monsuru, whose father is a staff member of the FCT Fire Service, reportedly told security officials that his father was ill and had instructed him to sit for the examination on his behalf. Security personnel had been deployed to monitor the exercise and prevent examination malpractice.

The case took a further twist when Monsuru reportedly gave his father’s age as 67 or 68, while Musa Mohammed said he would turn 60 in February 2027. The father also provided details of his educational history, including completing primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.

Both father and son were subsequently questioned by DSS operatives and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution. The FCT Civil Service Commission’s 2026 promotion examinations are scheduled to run from October 5 to 13.
