Anambra First Lady Wins Africa Public Health Innovation Award

Anambra State First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, has been named a recipient of the Public Health Innovation Award at the Africa Future Leadership Conference and Awards in recognition of her efforts to promote preventive healthcare and community-based health education. Soludo is scheduled to receive the award at a ceremony in Lagos on November 20, 2026, according to a statement issued in Awka on Saturday by her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe.

The award recognises her Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, which promotes preventive healthcare, healthy nutrition, physical fitness and personal hygiene, with programmes targeting women, children and young people across Anambra State. The initiative also includes menstrual hygiene education and campaigns encouraging healthier habits at household and community levels.

The recognition highlights the role of health education and disease prevention in complementing medical services, promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing avoidable illnesses. It also underscores how state-level initiatives can expand public health awareness by taking practical health information beyond hospitals and into local communities. The Africa Future Leadership Conference and Awards recognises individuals for their contributions to leadership and development across the continent.

The November ceremony in Lagos is expected to bring together leaders and stakeholders from different sectors. Soludo’s recognition places further attention on community-based health education as a means of promoting preventive healthcare across Anambra State.
