FCT CP, Sanusi, Tasks Iru Ekun Security Network To Work With Security Agencies

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has charged the management of Iru Ekun Security Network with sustaining healthy collaboration with all security agencies in discharging their duties.

He said a working relationship with the Police, Nigerian Armed Forces, Department of State Service (DSS), and other paramilitary agencies is critical to community policing and the effectiveness of local security initiatives in tackling criminality in Nigeria.

A statement from his Igboho media office on Saturday indicated that Sanusi delivered the charge from his Abuja office during a strategic meeting with the FCT coordinator of Iru Ekun, Segun Olufadeju, popularly known as Aluwaye, and his team.

The Police boss, who lauded the security outfit, emphasised the need for Iru Ekun to always notify relevant security agencies, especially the Divisional Police authorities within their jurisdictions, on crime prevention and detection before taking any action.

The statement, however, described the meeting as part of collaborative efforts with the Police to combat crime and promote peace and tranquillity in the country, and quoted the founder of Iru Ekun Security Network and Yoruba Nation Agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, as commending the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, for his support to the outfit. The statement reads, “The meeting with FCT CP, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, is part of our commitment to work with the Police and also show gratitude for their major support, which has been responsible for the success we have recorded in reducing rampant cases of abduction, banditry and farmer-herder clashes.

“We are always ready to partner with relevant stakeholders in the security sector in further driving peace, protecting communities against hoodlums and other criminals posing a threat to our people, most especially law-abiding Nigerians in the Southwest.

“The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, IGP Tunji Disu, the Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, and other heads of security agencies have all been supportive and instrumental to our operational achievements. We will continue to leverage this healthy collaboration for the overall interest of Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, the FCT coordinator of Iru Ekun, Segun Olufadeju, promised during the meeting with Sanusi to always inform and engage the Police in the FCT on their activities.
