Bride And Elder Sister Fight Over Food
A wedding I attended Saturday last week. The bride and her elder sister got into shouting words over food sharing. Now me I humbly came to carry rice since we haven't eaten and I decided to go to the cooking area to do something before hunger kill me. As I enter, the mother of the bride knows my mum so I greet her and she is happy to see me.
She said 'have I eaten', I said no. U know how Igbo women are.
She shouted to food caterers: oya come and serve Oga food. I come dey feel like James Bond. Not to long the bride storms in and goes straight to the caterers and starts shouting at them that her visitors haven't eaten BLA BLA.
Omo the elder sister told her to keep calm, naso the bride face the elder sister, next thing shouting begin, almost lead to fight oo, dem come dey calm the elder sis.
Me I just carry my mountain of chicken and rice and japa. But this got me thinking: why is food always a point of quarrel and fights amongst women in occasions?
I have never seen men misbehave because of food in occasions. It's always women shouting and fighting because of food sharing in every occasion that I attended.
