Skitmaker and content creator Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ijekwu, better known as Sabinus, has decried the alarming rate of Agbero activities in Lagos. While reposting a video of Lagos agberos in Onikan Stadium, he lamented over the Agbero pandemic. He said that if one starts talking about it, internet users will begin attacking him. Sabinus expressed disappointment that grown men and people’s breadwinners are making a mess of themselves.
He said he has washed his hands of such matters. “If I dey talk about this agbero pandemic for Lagos, una go begin attack person. Just look at grown men and people’s breadwinners making a mess of themselves. I don wash my hands for this matter”. If I dey talk about these agbero pandemic for Lagos, una go begin attack person. The video, which gathered millions of views online, sparked conversation about the begging culture in Lagos. Earlier this year, actress, Sarah Martins, had decried the alarming rate of beggars flooding her DM.
Venting, she issued them a warning, telling them to stop flooding her DMs. Similarly, comedian I Go Save had decried the growing pandemic of beggars in Lagos. He pointed out how beggars in the Northern parts of Nigeria hold plates, while their colleagues in Lagos hold stones. The comedian called on the government to curb the growing number of beggars in Lagos. He had also decried the alarming rate of begging in public spaces in Nigeria.
He noted that the country is hard; however, he believes people should calm down with the rate of begging, as everyone is facing challenges in the country. During the festive season in 2024, the comedian cried out over the level of hunger in the country. He said the number of people asking him for help was a record, and he urged the public to lend a helping hand. In other news, a few weeks ago, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) slammed Sabinus over a poster of him being wanted.
The commission called him a clout chaser and told him to stop now. The skitmaker shared a conversation with a blogger who begged for his forgiveness after posting false news about him. Sabinus expressed sadness at how quickly bloggers condemn, tarnish, disfigure, slander, defame, and blackmail people to get massive attention. He said this behaviour was becoming alarming, and he urged them to stop.
