There’s something strange about music.
You can listen to a song for years, sing every word, know the chorus by heart, and still not understand what the artist was really saying.
Then life happens.
You fall in love.
You lose someone.
You experience betrayal.
You grow older and begin to see things differently.
Suddenly, that same song hits differently.
The lyrics haven’t changed.
The beat hasn’t changed.
But you have.
A line you once sang without thinking can suddenly feel like somebody reached into your life, picked out an experience you never told anyone about, and turned it into music.
And that’s when you realise something:
Sometimes, understanding a song isn’t about knowing the lyrics.
It’s about having lived long enough to recognise the truth hidden inside them.
Maybe that’s why certain songs never really grow old. We keep returning to them, but each time, we bring a different version of ourselves.
Let me ask you something:
Have you ever listened to an old song and suddenly understood its meaning years later?
What changed—the song, your understanding, or your life?
Let’s hear your experiences. 👇🏿
