Conversations I Never Finished

01

Over the past years, I have had long conversations with several people about Christianity, the Bible, morality, suffering, God, and what it means to be human.

One of those conversations was with my colleague, Ifeoluwa.

What started as an ordinary conversation gradually became a series of arguments about questions neither of us could settle in a few messages. Other conversations followed, each with its own direction and set of questions.

A quote by the author T. S. Eliot. This line appears in Eliot’s poem Burnt Norton, the first of his Four Quartets, where he meditates on time, memory, and the tension between temporal experience and a transcendent “still point”. The phrase suggests that humans often avoid or soften the harshness of reality because fully perceiving it, its impermanence, suffering, and complexity, can be overwhelming.

The Oracle at Delphi called Socrates the wisest man in Athens. He spent years trying to prove it wrong, and concluded that the only thing setting him apart was this: he knew that he knew nothing.

That sounds like false modesty until you watch how people actually argue. Most of us defend positions we inherited and never examined — from our parents, our church, our village, our timeline. His method was only to keep asking questions until the person answering discovered there was nothing underneath.

Across social media, manga discourse is frequently dominated by repetitive power rankings and quick reaction videos. Rising above the noise, TikTok creator Khiochi (@khiochi) has established a dedicated following by delivering masterclasses in visual analysis and narrative subtext, particularly within Keisuke Itagaki’s iconic martial arts universe.

Khiochi’s analytical precision was on full display in his recent coverage of Baki Rahen. While many readers viewed the recent chapter showing Baki Hanma seated inside an airplane as simple transition panels, Khiochi uncovered a pivotal shift in the protagonist’s visual identity.
