Karen and Deon Dericco, parents of 14 Whose 20-year Marriage Ended In Divorce
If you watched TLC's Doubling Down with the Derricos, you probably remember Karen and Deon Derrico as the couple raising an extraordinary family of 14 children—including twins, triplets and quintuplets. 👨👩👧👦
For five seasons, viewers were invited into their world.
The laughter.
The arguments.
The parenting struggles.
The search for a bigger home.
The celebrations.
The heartbreak.
But the family's story took a dramatic turn in 2024—and in 2026, things became even more serious.
So what really happened to the Derricos? 👀
Let's break it down.
👶 1. YES… THE DERRICOS HAVE 14 CHILDREN
One of the biggest things people get wrong online is the number of children.
Karen and Deon have 14 children together, not 18.
Their family includes multiple sets of multiples, including twins, triplets and quintuplets. TLC itself described the family as having four sets of naturally conceived multiples.
Sadly, their journey also included tragedy.
One of their triplets, Carter, died shortly after birth. 💔
Karen also experienced miscarriages during the family's journey, adding another layer to a story that often looked joyful on television.
📺 2. FIVE SEASONS OF LIFE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS
Doubling Down with the Derricos premiered in 2020 and followed the family through the challenges of raising 14 children.
The show ultimately ran for five seasons, with Season 5 airing in 2024.
And here's the part that makes everything even more interesting…
During Season 5, viewers were already seeing tension between Karen and Deon.
They were dealing with their crowded home, parenting disagreements and major decisions concerning their children—including their eldest daughter Darian's future.
Then came the bombshell.
💔 3. THE MARRIAGE ENDED IN JUST TWO DAYS
Karen and Deon had been married since 2005.
On June 4, 2024, they filed for divorce.
Just two days later—June 6—the divorce was finalized.
Yes… TWO DAYS. 😳
They agreed to share legal and physical custody of their 13 minor children.
Deon was ordered to pay $1,166 per month in child support, while Karen would handle the children's medical insurance.
And despite the divorce, Karen chose to keep the Derrico surname.
The timing was particularly shocking because the divorce became public shortly before the Season 5 finale aired.
Imagine watching a family on television while discovering that the marriage holding everything together had already ended behind the scenes. 😮
🏠 4. THEY DIDN'T IMMEDIATELY GO THEIR SEPARATE WAYS
Here's a detail many fans may not know…
According to TMZ's reporting, Karen and Deon reportedly continued living together for a period after the divorce, partly for financial reasons and to keep the huge family together.
But as it became clearer that reconciliation wasn't happening, Karen reportedly moved out with four of the children.
That makes the story even more complicated.
Because getting divorced doesn't necessarily mean you can instantly live completely separate lives when 14 children are involved.
⚖️ 5. THEN CAME THE 2026 LEGAL DRAMA
And this is where the story takes a much darker turn.
In June 2026, Karen was arrested following allegations involving her ex-husband.
According to the criminal complaint and subsequent reporting, prosecutors accused her of making threats against Deon and some of their children, as well as violating a temporary protective order.
The case reportedly includes two felony charges and two misdemeanor charges, including allegations of aggravated stalking constituting domestic violence and attempting to prevent or discourage Deon from appearing in court.
Some of the allegations are extremely serious.
Prosecutors claim threatening communications were sent to Deon and that Karen allegedly threatened him and children who sided with him.
Deon also reportedly told authorities that the situation had become frightening enough that some of the children were afraid.
🚨 BUT HERE'S SOMETHING IMPORTANT:
These are allegations—not proven facts.
Karen has denied the accusations and pleaded not guilty.
🛑 6. KAREN'S LAWYER SAYS THE ACCUSATIONS ARE "FABRICATED"
Karen's defense has presented a completely different version of events.
Her attorney has described the accusations as false and malicious, arguing that Deon himself fabricated or manipulated the alleged threatening communications.
Her defense has sought to investigate the digital evidence, including the source/IP information connected to the emails.
So right now, the public is hearing two very different versions of what happened.
And ultimately, the court—not social media—will have to determine what the evidence proves.
🚨 7. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE DERRICOS NOW?
That's perhaps the biggest question.
The original show has already completed its fifth season, ending in July 2024.
But the Derricos' story clearly didn't end when the cameras stopped rolling.
Their family has gone from being known primarily for the extraordinary challenge of raising 14 children…
to dealing with divorce…
and now a serious legal case that has placed their private family conflict in the public spotlight.
And that leaves us with one BIG question:
👇 WOULD YOU WATCH A NEW DERRICOS REALITY SHOW TODAY?
Would you want to see how the family is coping after the divorce?
Or do you think some family situations are simply too serious to turn into reality television?
And perhaps the biggest question of all…
Do you believe the allegations against Karen, or do you think there is more to this story than the public knows? 👀
