Nigeria's newest telecommunications operator, Lebara, has commenced commercial operations nationwide, opening its mobile services as it seeks to carve out a position in the country's increasingly competitive telecoms market. The company said Nigerians can now obtain SIM cards through participating retail locations and registered agents, completing KYC verification remotely through the My LebaraNG app; customers can choose between physical SIMs and eSIMs, with in-person onboarding at retail networks including Slot stores.
CEO Teniola Stuffman: 'We are excited to officially go live and make Lebara SIMs available to Nigerians... Our focus is on making connectivity simple and accessible.' More than 1,000 registered retail agents were already part of its distribution network. Initial offerings include mobile voice, SMS and data, transparent usage tracking, cloud storage, BNPL options for eligible devices and LebaraPlay entertainment.
Lebara is linked to VAS2Nets Telecommunications, holder of a Tier 5 MVNO licence from the NCC (commenced March 2024); it unveiled its 0724 number series and held a soft launch in Lagos in February 2026. https://punchng.com/new-telco-lebara-begins-nationwide-operations/?amp
