THE BATTLES YOU MUST WIN (258)
THE GATE OF HONEST GAIN — THE BATTLE AGAINST DISHONEST WEALTH
One of the greatest battles you must win on your journey to financial breakthrough is the battle against the desire to gain wealth through dishonesty.
Financial pressure can tempt people to lie, cheat, steal, manipulate, deceive customers, falsify records, evade responsibilities, or take what does not belong to them.
But wealth obtained through dishonesty may increase your possessions while destroying your peace, reputation, character, and relationship with God. God wants us to prosper through legitimate labour, wisdom, diligence, integrity, and faithful stewardship.
BIBLE PASSAGE “...Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase...” Prov. 13:11
God values honest labour and patient increase. Not every profitable opportunity is a righteous opportunity.
THE NEW TESTAMENT REALITY
“...Provide things honest in the sight of all men...” Romans 12:17
A Christian's financial life must be consistent with his faith.
You should not claim to belong to Christ while using dishonest methods to make money.
CHRIST HAS WON THIS BATTLE
Jesus rejected Satan's offer of worldly power and glory because He would not obtain it through disobedience.
“...Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve...” Luke 4:8
Christ teaches us that no financial gain is worth compromising obedience to God.
HOW DISHONEST GAIN MANIFESTS
--Lying to obtain money. --Cheating customers or business partners. --Stealing or misappropriating money. --Using false information to secure financial advantage. --Refusing to pay people what they have legitimately earned. --Taking advantage of someone's ignorance or desperation. --Participating in fraudulent schemes. --Calling dishonest wealth “blessing.”
HOW TO WALK IN VICTORY
--Choose integrity over quick profit. --Work honestly and diligently. --Be truthful in business and financial dealings. --Reject fraudulent opportunities, even when they appear profitable. --Be accountable with money entrusted to you. --Remember that God's blessing does not require disobedience.
“...Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith...” Proverbs 15:16
LIFE ILLUSTRATION
Two businessmen discover an opportunity to make a large amount of money by deceiving their customers. One accepts it because he is interested only in profit. The other rejects it because he values his integrity more than the money. The first may become richer temporarily, but the second protects something money cannot buy: a clean conscience and a good name. The lesson is simple: Never become rich by doing what you will later need God to forgive you for.
CALL TO DECISION
Ask yourself: Am I pursuing financial increase through methods that God can approve? Today, reject dishonest gain. Choose integrity even when honesty appears slower and less profitable. It is better to grow slowly with God than to become rich quickly without Him.
LITTLE WISDOM
Money gained dishonestly can increase your possessions while decreasing your peace.
PRAYER
My Lord Jesus Christ, give me the grace to pursue financial increase with honesty and integrity. Deliver me from greed, deception, fraud, theft, manipulation, and every temptation to obtain wealth through unrighteous means. Give me wisdom, diligence, legitimate opportunities, and strength to remain faithful even when dishonest gain appears attractive. Let my financial success never cost me my character, peace, or relationship with You. Bless the work of my hands and make me a faithful steward of every resource You entrust to me. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen.
