He said, "Marriage is a divine institution and couples must tolerate and trust each other, if it can succeed," the royal father noted.

"There is absolute joy in marriage if couples could tolerate each other's shortcomings, and always exercise patience, as well as make God the pillar of their marriages," he added.

Describing external influence as chief cause of marriage breakup, the monarch appealed to younger couples and others who want to enter into marriages to avoid interference in their marriages, even from their parents, friends etc.

Said he, “I'm appealing to youths and intending couples not to allow any outsider to come into their marriages or settle quarrels for them.

They should not copy anybody's marriage, as success in marriage has no formula. The two can settle their quarrels, acting as a team, tolerating and always inviting the presence of God in their lives.”

He attributed the success of his own marriage to the grace of God, stressing that God has been grateful to him, his wife and his entire family.

The Federal government job the wife is doing was offered to her through the husband (originally meant for him), while the husband rather opted to be on the street hustling and in school too. To cushion the effect of transportation, the husband had years ago sold his Bolt business car to buy a tokunbo car for her as a means of getting to and from work.

Now the woman is working and at the same time running a side business, using the car as support.

Anytime the issue of supporting the family comes up, she flares up, whereas she sends money to family back home often (which I am not critical of). Out of the 4 kids, the husband has told her to take up partial responsibility for one of them who is in JSS 3, because the fee is high.

Is it unmanly or wrong for a husband to call a wife to show support for children's school fees (at most partial support for one out of 4 kids)?

Or is she resisting this because she is used to not supporting before now, as he has never called for her support in any way before?
